MONDAY WITH KATHY

June 3, 2013

Couldn't help ourselves, we needed one more visit with Kathy and another trip to The Rendezvous Grill for dessert.  Someday we will go there for dinner.

SUNDAY ENGAGEMENT PICTURES

JAMES AND LISA - June 2, 2013

Ray traveled to Troutdale on Sunday to take James and Lisa's engagement pictures.  We couldn't of reached our goal and timeline to remodel our house without James.  Ray was thrilled to use his skills of portraiture photography to reciprocate the generosity James gave us with his skills and talents.  We are excited for James and Lisa and wish them the best.

SATURDAY WITH ROB

WILDWOOD RECREATION AREA  - Right next door to Mt Hood RV Park is the BLM Wildwood Recreation Area.  Allyson recommended/insisted we visit this spot before we leave the area.  Saturday was the perfect day for the visit. Rob, my favorite son and hiking partner, was coming for a visit and the RV park had to trail that connected to Wildwood.  Our round trip was just under 5 miles, three miles was the trail from the part to Wildwood.

Wildwood is a fantastic park.  This is a spot to add to your list of must sees for out-of-state guests.  It really showcases Oregon forests.   The park allows for short hikes with well marked trails, picnic areas, and a bit of education regarding salmon habitat and wetlands.  Here is the link to their website: BLM Wetland

EL BURRO LOCO  Another find in Welches is the El Burro Loco Restaurant.  It is located in the same shopping area as the Rendezvous Grill.  Both conveniently located across the highway from the flyshop.  We started the evening with a Sangria for me and a Strawberry Daiquiri for Rob (Ray had a beer).   My $4 sangria was beautiful and tasty.  Rob's daiquiri was made with fresh Oregon berries.  Who cares about dinner?  We would come back here for the drinks.   As a plus, our food was excellent.

FIRST FIRE OF THE YEAR  Our big plan was to have our first fire on Memorial Day Weekend in Bend.  The rain postponed this event.  Saturday night was perfect for the fire, especially since Rob was there to enjoy it with us.

FRIDAY WITH THE CUMIFORDS

May 31, 2013

It is always great to see Dean and Kathy.  Their house is set in a cozy setting of farm land and a beautiful view of Mt. Hood.  As usual, Kathy prepared us an excellent meal and we throughly enjoyed visiting with Dean.

The evening was beautiful.   Kathy and Ray headed off to take the "Postcard Perfect" picture of Mt Hood just a few minutes from Kathy's house.

A highlight of the evening for Kathy was me volunteering Ray to return to their house on Saturday to install their new refrigerator with ice maker.  He was excited to have a project in his future...I hope.

THURSDAY WITH ALLYSON

May 30, 2013 -

Our first visitor was Allyson.  We were excited to see her and show her our new home.  Allyson had great knowledge of the area and recommended some spots for hiking and dining.  The best thing was going to Rendezvous Grill for dessert.  Allyson shared memories of past dinners at the Rendezvous Grill with her parents.  It is worth a trip to Welches to have dessert.  We all ordered something different and shared.  YUMMMM

Check out that Strawberry Rhubarb Cobbler

Thanks Allyson for being such a great friend and coming to visit us.

Mount Hood/Welches

May 29 - June 28, 2013 - Mt Hood RV Park

Whew, made it to Welches without any interesting mishaps.  The park was not very full and we had a very exclusive space.  The best part of Welches is seeing friends one more time before departing on our big trip.  The most frustrating was no WiFi.  We decided to contract with Verizon and now have a HotSpot.  This will solve most of the tardiness problems I was having with posting on the blog.

This is the section we stayed in.  The site had beautiful ferns, trees and a fire pit for Ray.

It appears Ray became heavenly while we were there...

SUNRIVER/BEND MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

May 22 - 28, 2013

What a fun time in Central Oregon.  Yes, it was raining off and on.  That slowed down planned hikes and bike rides but somehow we managed...  The best thing about being in Central Oregon is visiting our friends Debbi and Hassen.  They have a home close to the Thousand Trails RV Resort and we were able to join them and their friends for cheer, food and a competitive game of Apples to Apples.  I have to say, I have never had a bad time when I have been with Debbi.
Debbi and Hassen stopped by to check out our new digs

Karen and Keith visited us and then we got to go to their beautiful home the next night.

Finally remembered to go Geocaching and look, we found one.

Doggy days at Sunriver - Louie scored a new harness.  No more pink for Louie.

Hanging out at Sunriver

Louie shopping at Lowes - I forgot he was in the cart!

New runners for the RV - why do they put in light color carpeting?

First wash day!  Made it safely through the process.

Wash almost done and ready to head to Welches.
